I have been part of the Heron Creek community since 2011, first as a seasonal resident from Canada and, since September 2017, as a permanent Florida resident with my husband, Rene Roy. Throughout this time, I have been an active member of the Heron Creek Community Foundation (HCCF), and more recently, I have had the privilege of supporting its mission through my travel business. I deeply value the work HCCF does to strengthen our community and the positive impact it has on the local region.
During my years at Heron Creek, I have enjoyed contributing in various ways. I served as Chair of the Tennis Advisory Board, was a member of the Club’s Social Committee, and spent two years on the Board of the Ladies Golf Association (LGA). Each of these experiences gave me a chance to connect with neighbors, foster community spirit, and support the activities that make Heron Creek such a special place to live.
Professionally, I am now in my third career as the owner of a travel business. Before this, I operated a successful retail franchise in Canada for 20 years, leading a team of 65 employees. During that time, I also served a two-year term as President of our franchisee board, representing more than 350 fellow entrepreneurs during critical contract negotiations (2003–2005). Earlier in my career, I spent 13 years in international buying with the same company, rising to the position of Associate Vice President and managing a team of seven buyers and their marketing assistants.
My husband and I love living in Heron Creek. Making Florida our permanent home in 2017 was a big step, but one we have never regretted. We feel grateful for the opportunities we’ve had and strongly believe in giving back to the community that has given us so much.
