“If you change one child, you change the family, community, and eventually, society.”

2025 is seeing your Heron Creek Foundation off to a great start as it works toward this year’s philanthropic grant-giving goals. Your foundation has already sponsored two North Port High School students through the Take Stock in Children Scholarship Program. Both will attend the University of Central Florida. Tessa Erazo will major in psychology, and Chaz LaFlair will pursue a career in mechanical engineering. It’s incredible how your contribution can mushroom into substantial grants when married to the various $ for $ matching programs available to our North Port charities and non-profits.
At the 2025 annual Take Stock In Children Banquet, Tessa Erazo was a principle speaker and Chaz LaFlair was honored as one of five statewide recipients of the “Inspire Scholarship Award”. As the only recipient of this award in Sarasota County, he will receive a 4-year pre-paid Florida scholarship (including housing) and $5,000 toward co-curricular and professional development assistance such as study abroad, undergraduate research, and internships. We are so proud of these two outstanding students we sponsored this year, and it was all made possible by the kindness and generosity of our Heron Creek residents.
Your Heron Creek Board of Directors thanks all the residents for their outstanding support of our various events. We hope you find the events entertaining and enjoyable. Another huge way that our residents can help is by joining the Heron Creek Foundation. The $100 annual Membership fee goes a long way in our collective giving model, and the Take Stock In Children Grant is just one example of how we change the lives of those in need..
