The Heron Creek Community Foundation once again sponsored the Marilyn Kosiorek Christmas Giving Tree to brighten the holidays for needy children in North Port. As you are well aware, this season was a very difficult one for many families who are dealing with the added burdens of unemployment and hurricane damage. Just as in years past, the Heron Creek Community came through with flying colors.
The Giving Tree was located at the Club starting Monday, November 25th, and, in less than two weeks, our Club members took all of the names off the tree, and the results are really quite impressive. A total of 75 children from 20 families received age appropriate gifts for every name on the tree. Volunteers then wrapped all of the gifts for presentation on Christmas morning.
As an added bonus this year, an anonymous donor sponsored the purchase of a $100 Walmart gift card for each of the twenty families represented on the Marylin Kosiorek Christmas Giving Tree.
